I have a tendency to get hyped up way over the top with Utah Football. Games like last Saturday, while a kick in the gut, helps me reset priorities.

Because you don’t get paid a giant pile of money by a public institution.

If our receivers run the same 40 time as you would you be as generous? Or is it safe to assume that different expectations of different individuals is not only justified, but logical?

Every time a hardcore Utah fan realizes this, an angel gets its wings.

Dang…I’m glad I don’t have people calling for me to get fired every time I have a bad day at work (especially when it’s not certain that the problems were my fault).

In the first few games this season, we benefitted from some interference calls and on similar plays Saturday, those calls weren’t made. Indeed very probably their DC told them, when in doubt, hit them early to break up the play and keep doing it until the call is made.

I’ll agree with you there. Cam’s 30+ PPG average is better at 80% than a true freshman with the yips.

We’ve been seeing single or no loss predictions of our record for a while. I think there was a poll in the spring or winter that was, in my opinion, quite nearly insane in its consensus. Like guys…. when do we ever not drop random games.

Definitely a letdown. Also maybe a wake up call. Coaches, players and fans seem to be a little to caught up in he media and fan hype.

If people recall this board was pretty certain Zona would be our toughest game of ’24 if we were to play. But the national discourse sort of dissolved our (and apparently the team’s) worries.

It’s a bummer to lose the last game before a bye week… People are grumpy for two weeks instead of one.

It’s possible but I think good programs that permanently tank like nebraska are an outlier. It’s really more like when you lose a shining star of a coach in their best years you won’t reach those heights again for a long while. Everyone loses it eventually. Doesn’t matter what your resume says when the time comes that you’re no longer cut out to do those things anymore. Even Saban was slipping, and well… he made the hard but correct choice.

That’s called adjusting. 🙂 We should try it.

By the time the season is over, how many teams in the country will be undefeated? Zero? One or two? That’s some pretty high expectations.
