ParticipantLet’s say the Ute tribe big timed us for 1 year only and signed a 5 year deal for 2022-2027, leaving 2021 vacant, kind of like what our football team did to BYU a couple years back. Maybe the Ute Tribe had an anniversary honoring its ancestors and wanted to hold it’s name and heritage in house for 1 year. I’m guessing we would have the bird as the mascot but no logo or nickname for that year. But if we had to pick one for that year, like if it was an NCAA requirement. What would it be?
University of Utah Red Rocks? University of Utah Red Tailed Hawks? University of Utah Cutthroats? University of Utah Bubbles 2.0? University of Utah Brine Shrimp? University of Utah Jazz?
It would be cool to tie the University to the Mountains in some way but I can’t think of anything except for downhill sports names like the Super G.

ParticipantWe’d just pull a Stanford and call ourselves the Crimson.

“Until the mid-1920s, athletic teams and students were mainly referred to as “the Crimson.”

KeymasterHow about the “Utah inanimate politically correct non-offensive things.”

ParticipantHow about the Utah Whites?

UTUTE
ParticipantThat’s taking it way to far.

KeymasterBut years later white people will find that offensive and we’ll have to change to the “Utah thing that has no color, sexual preference, religious background, or history.”

ParticipantAs a serious answer, I definitely vote for Moose. It’s unique, they are local to Utah, and they are dangerous and awesome
