DP was told an hour ago that the Big 10 and Pac 12 will cancel their football seasons tomorrow… The ACC and the Big 12 are on the fence.. And the SEC is trying to get teams to join them for a season.
Im curious whatvthe argument against some sort of spring season would be, other than we arent used to it in the spring? Id take something over nothing, even if it’s a short season
I don’t see how spring would be an issue for training camps, eligibility, or other sports schedule. Open camp early March, players get waivers from the ncaa which it already plans to do, and nobody cares about other sports except basketball and that’s over by end of March most teams anyway. Those are pretty easy problems
Agreed, I think if they went 8 games in February/March of 21 and followed it up with 8 games in October/November 21 with normal conference championships and a playoff in the “second” 21 season it could work. Essentially two extra games for all but 10 p5 teams in the calendar year.
Hellhound, that’s a good point. It could work with shortened seasons and no bowl games after the spring season. Although, they’d still be cutting it close to the combine/draft.
