Soooo…..same as last week then. And the week before that. Our problem hadn’t been the Tuesday leading up to the game. It’s that sticky 24-hrs before kickoff that always seems to disqualify us.
Apparently Utah had enough guys to play last week but LA county wouldn’t allow a few to play although they never had a positive test result. Not sure what the rules are in SLC, but I’d imagine even if the numbers were the same this week, the Utes would be able to play. Hopefully the players have protected themselves and have recovered enough in the last two weeks to be able to play this weekend.
Agreed. I’m far more concerned with USC administration using the COVID case count in Utah as a reason to cancel or play a different opponent instead. Utah clearly has the best shot at beating USC of the remaining teams on SC’s schedule (not saying it would happen, just that their remaining schedule isn’t exactly formidable). If they can use the high positively rates in the state of Utah as a means to cancel and schedule a different (easier) opponent, would they?
Fortunately, USC can’t just cancel their game with Utah. There are fairly strict rules with what qualifies to cancel/no contest. SoCal can’t tell Utah that they have too many cases. Only Utah can do that.
I think the real issue here is not the tues before the game. Or the 24 hrs before. The issue is the games are scheduled in November. Somehow we always get screwed in November.
