Can someone who played football this fall – transfer down to say Weber State and play again in the spring?

I haven’t heard anything that would prevent it.

Then could this same person transfer back up and play with a D1 team this fall.

      Weber State is D-I.

Yes, I know.  It is FBS and FCS.  However, many people including the media still refer to it as D1 and D1AA. (I’m not sure why you are critiquing my post so closely.  Oh well.)

So to make you happy, I will rephrase my question.

Can a player who played this fall in FBS, then transfer to an FCS school?  And if they do, can they transfer back to an FBS school?

I don’t know about transfering back in the fall but I suppose they can transfer and play in the spring with the one free transfer rule.

That’s what I’ve heard too, one free transfer. And a second transfer, in general, doesn’t look good. Either the player is problematic or thinks they are better than they really are.

But it’s an interesting question! I guess in theory they probably could, although I can’t imagine them improving their stock that way
