I am afraid that I will be joining the ranks of Coach K haters!  no more watching BB until things change. very sad as the Mens BB helped get me thru the winter blues.

I do both. I’m a coach K “hater” but I still watch every minute of every game. I want to support those kids who signed on the dotted line and said “I want to be a Ute”, plus I just like college basketball.

I don’t “hate” coach K. I think deep down he wants to succeed. I just think he has maxed out. We’ve gotten as much as we are going to get out of him.

He is an ok coach and seems like a cool dude. He had his shot and it hasn’t worked out. With his paycheck we should be in the tourney just about every year, not missing out on the NIT.

Welcome. Persoanlly the guy is fine. But I expect much more from this program. And his excuses are bullish**. Its the same story every year the dude is never accountable and blames the players. He’s got to go.

I don’t hate coach K, just want us to do better. I think he is much like I was, old school, slow to change, wanting to change, but slip back to telling folks what to do when persuading gets difficult. I’m guessing here, but the new culture requires a leader that is relatable, not just right. Oddly, if he got past the tipping point where players considered him a winner, his style would be much more accepted. Still guessing, but I think he looks to people in his past that had success for an example rather than to people presently that are having success. Miller, at Az. looks much the same but he got over the tipping point and so others just accept him. Today, to climb the acceptance ladder, being relatable is required. Sadly, if he acquired a dominant big man, he may know how to get past that tipping point. I give him some pass because I really think he wants and tries to do the best for the U of U.

Hate isn’t the same as criticism. A lot of the critcism is looking at his paycheck and seeing the results. If Utah wanted a CBI invite every season they don’t need to pay a coach that much to get it.

      Let’s examine Larry’s shortcomings:

      1. He loses players – consistently.
      2. His teams underachieve. Forget the performance vs. the media poll – that means nothing. Look at all the times he’s lost in the first round of the PAC 12 tourney, even when he had the higher seed. Additionally, the couple of his teams that made the dance (like a million years ago) under-performed. They did lose to eventual national champions Duke one year, but the other time, they lost to an 11 seed.
      3. His record against good coaches like Altman is Washington Generals-esque.
      4. His Xs and Os are mediocre…being outrebounded, giving up tons of points, generally putting in mediocre performances is the norm. I don’t blame his players, Larry just isn’t preparing them to play at this level.
      5. When they do win, it’s because of a hot shooting night or an outmatched opponent. The number of big upsets by Larry’s team over the years is tiny.
      6. HE HASN’T WON A PAC 12 ROAD GAME FOR TWO F**KING YEARS!
      7. Lastly, and this is my #1 complaint, if the game is within 5 points at the under 4 minute time out, he loses 90% of the time. (This is not statistically documented). It’s like watching the movie “Titanic” over and over and over and hoping the boat doesn’t sink at the end. IT ALWAYS SINKS.

Seriously savage and number six tells you the axe is over his head. Protected by that buyout though.

Re: #7.  Speaking of predictable.  Loyter makes an appearance on utehub and guess what he posts about?
