Imagine your job is to ski in after every race and smooth out the snow.

I’m an ex-racer. I did course slipping for World Cups and the 2002 Olympics. It’s not as fun or sexy as it sounds.

Oh I didn’t think it was fun or sexy.

I’m a ski racing team parent for two kids in the early 2000’s. I did this job and I wasn’t great fun but the worst job I had was gate keeping, I nealy froze to death on two races, one a Brighton and another at Snow Basin. Also I had a couple of coach challenges that were pretty heated, I’m finaly like F this give every kid a trouphy I don’t care anymore.

That being said, the training my daughters got from the race teams have made them very incredible skiers, and I really apprciate their time with their team.

That’s crazy, and I’m sorry that happened. I can’t believe a coach would be that heated – gatekeeping is not the most difficult judgment call in the world. I mean, did both tips and both boots go through the gate, or didn’t they? I can’t recall ever seeing one of my coaches get heated about a DSQ. That’s bonkers.
