ParticipantOn to option #3….Harlan is looking very unprepared in this search.
I hope this all works out for the best, and who knows he might be great but Craig Smith doesn’t get me very excited.

ParticipantWell, the important thing is that Larry is gone. Right, guys?

ParticipantYes! The important thing is that Larry is gone!
Harlan made a bold move and fired an overpaid, underachieving coach that makes excuses every damn year about his team being young and inexperienced.

ParticipantAgreed. Utah State was able to field good regular season teams. I am wanting to get past the first round of the NCAA tournament. Smith doesn’t make me confident that he’s capable of that.

ParticipantHarlan not being prepared does not change the fact that “Larry being gone” wasn’t the right move. It was one hundred percent time for Larry to be gone. This is on Harlan. Im glad that he fired Larry. But, he should have gotten his ducks in a row, and kicked the tires on Jensen and Bryant before as to the seriousness of if offered would they take the Job. If the answer was no, then he should have focused on the college coaches.

ParticipantYup, that’s my point. The hire should have been lined up prior to firing Larry. Harlan should have known months ago whether Jensen or Bryant were interested.

ParticipantI think that two nba associate head coaches turning the job down hardly means Harlan was unprepared.
let’s slow our roll a little bit here. There is no reason why there isn’t plenty of time for Harlan to find a quality guy.
heck the tourney is only 1/3 done. I see nothing wrong with how Harlan has gone about this.

ParticipantSo . . . . we need to fire Harlan now? Just trying to keep up.

ParticipantHow do you know he didn’t and how do you that their answers at the time weren’t “maybe”?

ParticipantNot liking this seemingly local search, seems myopic. Should be a nationwide net cast. We all have heard of Porter Moser, what about the guy at North Texas? Harlan came from Florida, does he have a network of colleagues in the Southeast that could provide leads? Coaches at UAB or W Kentucky on the radar?

ParticipantShould be looking at Grant McCasland. 3 20-win seasons at UNT; knocked off Purdue in NCAA tournament as a 13 seed…

ParticipantBecause you haven’t done any research on the guy, most likely.
