After 9 straight losses – they have nothing to lose.  They will do everything and anything in an attempt to win.  I remember in 1994 when we were undefeated and playing UNM.  They had nothing to lose.  They would go for it on 4th down in their own territory.  Unfortunately, they had some success and won the game.

Things were similar for us in 1988 when we upset BYU 57-28.  We had lost 9 straight and many by 25 or more points.  BYU was highly favored.  We were 5-5 and had nothing to lose.  We left it all on the field.  Once we got going – things snowballed and we killed them.  It was a fun game.  Interestingly, BYU’s starting QB that day was a young man named Covey.

KW will have the Utes prepared, but BYU will play like rabid dogs.  It could backfire on them, but …

      Go Utes!!!

It feels lousy to me that a win does nothing but maintain the status quo.

Hopefully it just shuts them up for the next couple of years. Yeah I should know better.

If 9 in a row hasn’t stopped them, not much will. Denial runs deep.

I really have no idea how TSPP fans get so worked up over the Utah game. Like it’s been since 2009, relax little one.

Similar sentiments have been written every year since Utah left the MWC. It will be interesting to see the dynamic change if they finally get that Big12 invite.

My plan is to probably not talk about Poo Poo for a very long time after this win. I will analyze and hype it up. By Tuesday I will be thinking about SDSU.

With TSPP going to the big 12 all we’ll hear is how much better the new big 12 is now over the pac12. It’s going to be fun….🙄

Yeah and I won’t care one bit until Utah plays them again in like 2024 or something? We don’t have to care about them soon. Hang a decade on them and tell them to go away. Harlan is the man for the schedule change. Only shame is we should be playing for 11 in a row.

You could say the same thing about every matchup since they went independent. They’ve never had anything to lose.

This potentially works in Utah’s favor. Teams with nothing to lose play undisciplined. They commit penalties. They commit turnovers. Utah just has to be prepared for the unexpected. But given Whit’s track record, I have no reason to be concerned that he won’t have the team ready for this game.

Utes should take care of business. They out class TDS in every position on the field ; not to mention their depth or coaching.. only thing they having going for them is home field advantage .. in the future maybe this changes with them going to the Big 12. hopefully we won’t play them as much , but I think their move will make it more probable that we’ll play them more, and the team will theoretically be more evenly matched like back in the mountain west days .. beating them each year wasn’t going last forever , but it’s been one fun of a decade to be alive for ; and hopefully a few more decades to go

I wouldn’t say they have “nothing to lose”. I think there’s plenty of pressure for TDS going into the game. If (when) Utah wins it would be the first time in the history of the rivalry that either of the schools has won 10 consecutive games. I also feel like there’s a chip on TDS’s shoulder to prove last year wasn’t a fluke, and that they can compete. I’d also think Kalani is motivated to prove his worth after getting his contract extension, ARod wants to beat his former team even more given that he’s got the keys to the car. As such I expect there’s plenty of pressure on them. I’d also argue that if our more senior team members and coaches are spending time explaining the rivalry to younger players, many on this team may not be feeling as much pressure as TDS is. Just my two cents.

Nothing about the game scares me as coach Whit has said ” We don’t lose to BYU”
