Good
– We won
– TJ Pledger
– Another great linebacker was unveiled today and Lloyd was and is the man
– Eight sacks
– Three interceptions
Bad
– I don’t think Rising is our future. He made a lot of bad passes.
– We didn’t hold WSU to one three-and-out until 10 minutes to go in the game. That is not Utah football.
Ugly
– Red zone offense
– Fumbles!!! No one can hold on to the ball.
– Yes we won – but WSU is a horrible team. We have a lot of work to do.

You absolutely can’t say that about Rising after only one start.

I agree, Rising’s first full game ever. A few missed throws but rescued more plays with his legs. I look for him to be better against USC. The offense was not that bad if they just hold on to the ball. We turned our arrow to pointing up which was the grand objective today.

Rising 13-23 for 137 against WSU with good pass protection. What exactly are we expecting against USC?

I kind of agree about Rising. I have not given up on him totally. However, last week a true freshman and injured Jaxon Dart threw for over 400 yards against this same team in Pullman. WSU does NOT have a great pass defense. Rising did not look good. But, maybe it’s just one bad game. (I hope so!!!)

I really wish people would stop comparing Utah’s players to other players who happen to be local. It just feel covetous and unfair to Rising.
If you do that though my only response is no guarantee at all Dart could replicate that anywhere else other than USC.

ProudUteParticipant
I wasn’t trying to compare Rising to a local player. The point is that a TRUE freshman came in off the bench and destroyed the WSU D. It was not meant to compare Rising to a local kid. Dart chose USC and that’s fine.
Oh, by the way, Portland State had over 300 yards passing against this same D. Our “throw game” is not good right now. I certainly hope that it gets better and I hope Rising has a great season!!!

Wazzu is an awful team. Terribly coached. As bad as Utah played the Head Coach for Wazzu lost that game. Just because Dart had an outstanding game the week prior means nothing. That was that game. Wazzu also nearly went up 21-0. Utah defense obviously must be other worldly in comparison to this game.

Good point. With those SC receivers, my old ass could get 250 yards.

I remember when people would say the same thing about TH his first two seasons.

Spot on Proud!
A couple of adds:
Good
• Wildcat package with Jackson was nice to see. Like seeing him get some live action.
• Fillinger with 3 sacks
• CP3’s pick 6Bad
• Bam getting beat twice in 1st and goal series, causing Rising to take 2 hurries/hits on passes that should’ve resulted in a TDUgly
• “Throw Game” – 137 yards passing isn’t going to get us many more wins this season.-

Agree. Also, I forgot that our kicking game falls into the bad category.

Signs of improvement. I saw touchbacks and Redding finally got benched. +++++++

Was about to bring that up. Do we start seeing Noyes kicking field goals next week?

Pretty knee jerk reaction. Can’t really judge a QB after a start and a quarter. Give em some time.
-
fosternanoParticipant
A lot of it looked like tempo and timing issues. Rising was either a half second too early or too late on a lot of throws. Hopefully they can fix the timing issue by next week.
