No Pulisic (starting), Reyna, Dest for the US. Mexico’s top 3 center backs not available.

This is going to be a war of attrition and pretty compelling sport.

Some have observed this qualifying cycle may be the last one that has USA and Mexico facing each other.

For the 2026 World Cup, as co-hosts (along with Canada) they will qualify automatically.  And with the World Cupt finals expanding to 48 teams (and number of Concacaf spots going from 3 1/2 to 6 or so), there likely will be more than one group in the final round of qualifying (instead of 6 or 8 in one big group) and USA and Mexico will be likely  seeded into different groups.

Well, that was fun. At the end of the day, the strength of the U.S. attack was just a bit too much for that patchwork Mexico back line. Dos a cero! The second half was the best half of soccer from the USMNT in this entire qualifying cycle, and it couldn’t have come at a better time. And Pulisic’s “man in the mirror” undershirt was first-rate CONCACAF s**thousery.
