I’m seeing our D-line with three frshman starters (Tafuna (DT), Vimahi(DT), Fillinger(DE)) and I’m thinking of the guys that didn’t take a step forward that were starters and upper classmen last year. Hauati Pututau (SR), Maxs Tupai (SR), even Viane Moala (SR), who did get hurt, but still the early games saw a D-line get pushed back – also, Devin Kaufusi could have taken a step forward. Anyway, what’s the deficiency of these guys not progressing this year over last and to get passed up by Freshman D-Line is interesting. Perhaps Covid has something to do with it?

H.Pututau is out there making plays. Utah should have a stacked DL every year, but the DT position hasn’t signed a High School DT recruit since 2018 with Jackson Cravens (went to Boise), and Paul Maile (playing center). Utah’s DT recruiting is really odd.

2021 – Mokofisi was signed as a DT recruit but has been moved to OL
2020 – Tanoa Togiai was signed as a DT recruit but moved to OL; Keanu Tanuvasa signed and is on mission
2019 – Simote Pepa signed as DT and returned from mission; Junior Tafuna signed as LB and is DT
