Home page update attempt two didn't go well

Wow this is really crazy. I thought I was ready to deploy the new home page updates as a surprise this evening, which would be even more fun with “other” site not being even functional. I made the cutover and it all looked good. Then at the top of the post list was a spam post about viagra or some such thing. The INSTANT I cut over to the new version, spam bots had found a security hole. In another few seconds another viagra post appeared.

SO, I rolled it back again.

It looked like the new features were working, but somehow there’s a hole that allowed anonymous, non-members to post. And that also proved that the site is CONSTANTLY being attacked by bots just waiting for a hole to get into. That’s kind of scary actually.

So I now have to look through my code and find the problem in my new updates.

Bummed.
