With all the news, what are some of your educated guesses on how alignments go down?

I don’t know that I care anymore. There’s gonna be the B1G, the SEC, and a 2nd tier. What’s the point?

There was already a 2nd tier. Either P5 or G5. So whats the difference?

Well Utah worked hard to get out of the 2nd tier, now the 1st tier may be shrinking.   I hope the Pac-12 comes together to stop this.  I find it hard to believe the California Board of Regents is actually going to let UCLA split from Cal — which is probably what Wilner means by not yet approved at the highest levels.  At least Larry Scott is not running the Pac-12 circus any more.

The first domino was just pushed, too early to tell but big changes are coming.

The most likley scenario, IMO, is B1G grabs Oregon, UW, Stanford and Cal to make a west coast sweep.

Then the Big12 takes the best of the rest. Likely Utah, Colorado, and the Arizona schools.

In the unlikely scenario that UW and Oregon don’t leave, my guess is P12 raids B12. BYU might even be in the mix as the political ideologies of the west schools will take a back seat in order to survive.

      Crazy times.

Oregon and Oregon state are tied to each other by law. One cant leave the other. The same goes for Washing and Washington State as well. Means if they want Oregon and Washington they take 4 schools. I think its unlikely.

Link to the law you’re referring to?

People said the same thing about Oklahoma and Oklahoma state. Money always drives these decisions, not rivalries or relationships between state achools.

Realignment blows up traditions, and laws can and will be changed if necessary.

          In Utah

They think Utah – BYU are tied together by law.

          This is not true.
