      #53 Johnny Maea, Junior OL, 6-4, 311

      Johnny Maea (may-ay-ah) is a local from East High.   He graduated in 2016, after being selected a All-USA Utah team player in fall, 2015.   East High won the 4A State Championship his senior year.  Served a two-year mission in Panama, then joined the Utes in 2018.  He played in 9 games in 2019, 1 games in 2020, and 7 games in 2021 on special teams.  Maea seems to have had trouble breaking into the OL on game day, but has remained loyal to Utah, and perhaps his persistance will begin to pay off in 2022.
