#50 Fua Pututau, RS Junior DT, 6-1 297
Fua Pututau (foo-uh poo-too-tao) is a DT from Cottonwood HS, joining the Utes in 2018 after a 2-year mission. The Utes are stacked with Pututaus, his brother Hauati (Utah 2017-21) just signed a free agent contract the Green Bay Packers, brother Taniela is a RS Freshman TE and cousin Tennessee is a sophomore DT. Fua had played DE at Cottonwood, but due to his increased size at 297 he had been moved over to DT at Utah. Fua redshirted in 2018, played in 2 games in 2019, had no appearances in the COVID-shortened 2020 season and played in 3 games in 2021. The Utes currently have 7 young players vying for DT playing time, so we’ll see how that DT group shakes out in fall camp.
