#17 Devaughn Vele and Clayton Isbell
Devaughn Vele, Sophomore WR, 6-5, 205
Vele is one the most electric returning members of the Ute offense. He played in 14 games in 2021, starting in 6, after playing in all 5 games of 2020, was originally a walk-on from Rancho Bernardo HS in San Diego, California. Although he hasn’t had a large number of catches for the Utes, it seems like he was in for many crucial plays. In fact, one big play was a 37-yard flea-flicker pass he caught for a TD vs. USC. Overall he had 23 catches for 389 yards (16.9 ypc) in 2021. Willing to play anywhere needed he also had 2 tackles on special teams. I expect more catches and production from Vele in 2022 as Cam stretches the offense downfield more.

Clayton Isbell, Junior S, 6-2, 210
Clayton is a transfer from FCS Illinois State in Normal, Illinois. He played saftey for the Redbirds from 2019-21. He logged 62 total tackles (2.5 TFL),3 INTs and 3 pass breakups in his last season at ISU (Fall 2021), earning All-MVFC second-team and Hero Sports Sophomore All-American. Notably over his career with the Redbirds he had 6 turnovers, 5 INTs. The Utes have a deep safety room but Isbell, arguably, may be among the top 3-4, and if he can show he can play at this level he has a good chance of seeing action in 2022.</span>
