10,9,8,7,6…   #6 Justin Medlock and Ricky Parks

Justin Medlock, Freshman LB, 6-0 220

Justin is a true freshman from Missouri City, Texas (a Houston suburb), son of a Texas A&M linebacker Jason Medlock.  This was a big recruiting win for the Utes as Justin was expected to go to Miami.  At Manvel HS he logged 97 tackles (12 TFL), 3.5 sacks, two pass break-ups and a forced fumble in his senior season. As a sophomore he recorded 117 tackles (eight TFL), 3.5 sacks, five pass break-ups and two fumble recoveries for the Mavericks.  His junior season was shortened by injury.  Many are high on this newcomer so he may actually see playing time in 2022.

Ricky Parks, RS Freshman RB, 5-10 210

Ricky is a recruiting win from Florida, as a Zack-Moss-style back from Gaither HS in Tampa.  He gained 688 yards on 96 carries yards (7.2 ypc) with 11 TDs in his senior season 2020 as the Cowboys won their conference with an undefeated regular season.  He was named all Western Conference and was considered the 14th best RB in the nation.  As a junior he ran for 1251 yards at Jesuit HS in Tampa and was named first team all county and 2nd Team All-Tampa Bay.  Parks arrived in Utah in 2021 and redshirted his first year.  There are several back in the Ute RB room with similar seniority so it will be interesting to see if Parks earns playing time this year.
