It’s hard hitting old style KW D. Not the soft Scalley D.
There I said it….

As admin I must say I was tempted to “moderate” this post. Ouch.
-
Ute BcParticipant
I hated typing it. Even threw up a little.

You can hate a team with every fiber of your being while still respecting their game-play. 😉

fosternanoParticipant
Really enjoy the RGIII commentary. “He saw the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit after that hit!!!” 😂😂
-
Ute DubParticipant
Two years in a row now coming out soft. Time for daddy Whitt to take over again. It starts on the mental side….apparently Scalley can’t teach the mental toughness.
-
RoboUteParticipant
Delet this
-
RoboUteParticipant
Honestly though baylor looks mediocre, their QB would probably be our QB 3
-
Central Coast UteParticipant
Yep. Byu’s schedule looked tough pre-season but Orefon, ND and Baylor don’t look that great
-
RoboUteParticipant
He’s honestly worse than i thought he wouldn’t be on our team at all lol.

pedroParticipant
So we’re complaining about a D that gave up 85 yards and 4 first downs? SMH
KW’s D in 2004 343.4 YPG and 18.3 first downs
MS’s D in 2021 343.4 YPG and 18.4 First downs PGhttps://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/schools/utah/2004.html
https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/schools/utah/2021.htmlYes, There has been a huge drop off in MS’s Defense
-
RoboUteParticipant
Hahaha who thumbs upped this.
So is there any difference in our on field personnel as compared to 2004? If so, what is it? I’m genuinely curious if you know the answer.
-
Hellhound152Participant
So is there any difference in the talent of the competition or rate of play as compared to 2004? [This is rhetorical because we all know the anwer]
-
RoboUteParticipant
Do the analysis. You think it balances out down to the yard or do you think this number MIGHT be cherry picked? I think it’s pretty obvious Scalley is doing less with more.
No really, if you want to know do some analysis, are you capable?
Also is there any difference in “rate of play”? No. lol. Saturday still comes with the same frequency
-
-
pedroParticipant
Apparenlty no one got the TIC tone. Our defense is fine under MS. I think everyone desires a shutout everytime.
-
-
Ute BcParticipant
What a cherry picker you are. 2008 opponents were held to under 295 YPG.
But that’s not the whole story
-
RoboUteParticipant
So true, thumbs upping or thumbs downing that comment is a litmus test for basic understanding of statistics as a concept.
-
Central Coast UteParticipant
He said 2004, not 2008. The reason he picked that year is because Whitt was DC that year.
-

Larry BParticipant
I’d take a couple pieces from their offense too, TBH.
Of all the outside teams looking in, I think BYU has as good of a shot as anyone to make the CFP this year.
-
Central Coast UteParticipant
If they go undefeated they might get held out for not playing in a CCG. It hurt the big 12 to sit idle while others played, that is until they allowed them to play a CCG.

Not seeing the “softness” tbh. Not saying it necessarily isn’t there, but we’re two games in and one is FCS and can’t tell us much.
And against Florida, our issue (from what I saw) wasn’t being soft so much as not being disciplined and containing. If anything we were overaggressive. Which is a problem for sure, but not indicative of being soft.
At this point, it’s TBD if the defense is or isn’t soft. No point in jumping to conclusions based on one opening game against a unique talent.
