  I was at this game in 2017 and have to say, I was screaming “ Noooooo!” At the TV when I saw they were going for 2.

  I feel like Williams went too deep on that drop back. He had a pretty good pocket. Probably makes it in if he doesn’t go right and just steps up into the pocket.
  
  Whitt said that the play was for Rising to make a pass or run it. Rising looked for the play and most of the USC linebackers were spying him yet he still scored.

    I really appreciated whittinghams comments in postgame on decision making. Making situational calls on going for 2 or 4 down territory well in advance.
    
    This strikes me as an area he has matured as a coach. We often used to be surprised by Riverboat Kyle from time to time.

  I was also at the 2017 game. Very similar to last night.
  
  The one thing in common no one mentions is that Matt Gay missed a chip shot in the 1st half just like Noyes did. Nothing happens in a vacuum but you could make the case that if you make those field goals, the 2 pointers may not have been necessary.

    If I remember correctly Carrington was wide open in the back of the end zone on that missed 2 point conversion in 2017.

      Yeah once Williams went right though he wasn’t even looking to pass. Step up in the pocket he makes it.

  This moment is cemented in my mind as my wife was in labor with my son. She was about to be helicoptered to another hospital and we are watching the Utes go for two. We miss it and i yell “s**t!” right as the life flight crew walks in. All they say is, “We didn’t get it? Damn!”
  
  Thought about this last night when we were going for 2.
