Wazzu was a coin toss for me before USC (i.e. a 5), but after that win and Wazzu’s performance vs Oregon St, I’m at a 6.5. Mostly because it’s a road game, and Pullman will be hostile, and Wazzu will be looking to prove a point. Their D has been decent, and their O has struggled, but the way our STs are playing, they’re almost guaranteed a short field. Our D, while not great, has shown signs of improvement. Our O should be fine, but wish we had a reliable RB game by now.
What’s your confidence in a win on a scale of 1-10?

7. We can beat them in a shootout.

SalUteopiaParticipant
Something about a Thurs night away game after an emotional win is not screaming confidence to me.

We beat them 3 out of 4 times so 7.5.

SalUteopiaParticipant
Interesting way to look at it. I’d say 3/5 in away, 4/5 at home.

8.5 Rising has officially made this his team. Utah has an identity offensively.
Just hope we don’t get any injuries. -
CharlieParticipant
From Wazzu’s perspective, they are thinking this is a slim chance and would give them selves maybe a 3. So clearly we will be favored.
-
SalUteopiaParticipant
Objectively speaking, we should be favored.

There are things every team has to prove every year. This team needs to prove it can win a game on the road against an opponent who has not fired its head coach in the last 7 days. A win at either Florida or UCLA would make this game an 8 or a 9. Pullman in October isn’t that scary, especially mid-week since a large part of their fan base won’t travel from the west side of the state when they have to work the next day.
The problem with confidence level is you have to have faith that something that has not happened, will. So even though it is a game that Utah should win, albeit closer than many would hope, it really feels like a 6.5. It still is a mid-week, road, night game against a quality defense that shuts down the running game and gets after the quarterback while possessing an offense that can make bad defenses pay.

Your second paragraph has me worried lol. Is the game sold out? I haven’t seen anything one way or another.

Too soon to tell. Depends on whether we have a runinng back or not.
-
SalUteopiaParticipant
It’s a concern, but we keep winning despite the lack of an established back. I’m more worried about STs. Kickoffs feel like turning the ball over.

I don’t know if it will be a sellout. I have seen people complaining about how they can’t get people into the stands, let alone keep them there for an entire game. I believe their game against Oregon had plenty of fans dressed as empty seats.
* Tony: i tried 3 times to get this reply to a post higher in the thread. not sure why it wouldn’t attached to the post i hit reply on.
