      While 14 of what are now 131 FBS programs have indeed reached the CFP at this stage — a number that will skyrocket after expansion to 12 teams — let’s talk for a moment about the ones who haven’t quite broken through.

      6. Utah
      Avg. SP+ rating: 12.6
      The closest they’ve come: 2019. The Utes were fifth heading into the Pac-12 championship game but suffered a blowout loss to Oregon and fell to 11th.

      We went all in and even stayed at the team hotel for that CCG. The game was a major, major disappointment even though we clawed back and made it a one-score game late in the 4th QTR. Spending a few days in the Bay Area with the family was nice though.

        Terrible venue for back to back years there. 0-2 at Levi’s.
        2-0 at Allegiant.
