The Big 12? The MWC? Let’s say Utah gets left out, gets a garbage deal and goes with Oregon State and WSU and Cal and Stanford to the MWC and we make 20 million a year.

What happens? We do what we did in the MWC last time. We go to the playoffs 2-3 times every 5 years.

Are you telling me that would suck? Sure, the regular season would be less fun, but we’d become an even bigger brand nationally as we continue to do what Utah does, and that’s go to big time post season bowls and win conference titles.

      Utah will be just fine.

There is a 0% chance Utah winds back up in the MWC, as — worst case scenerio — the Pac-12 absorbs teams from the MWC; not the other way around.  Utah will not wind up back in the MWC!

The most plausible scenarios are (1) the Pac-12 signs a new GoR that includes UW and UO (and possibly SDSU & SMU).  Failing that, (2) Utah and the remaining 4-corner schools go to the Big 12.  And THAT is our “worst case” scenario.

I agree 100%. But even if it did happen, Utah would be fine. That’s all I’m saying.

The PAC-12 losing USC and UCLA has already created the “worst case” scenario. The PAC-12 is toast.

The PAC-12, has and will ultimately be unable to acquire a lucrative TV/Cable rights contract – that is with competitive income streams and brand exposure.

Oregon and Washington will lose patience. I expect the Utah AD and Coach knows it, and is working on a plan outside of the PAC-12.

Next year (or sooner) BIG-10 will accept, or otherwise offer, Oregon and Washington, and probably Stanford and California membership. The BIG-12 will go after Utah, Colorado and the two Arizona teams. Oregon State and Washington State will go independent, or go to the MWC.

Therefore, at some point this decade, Utah and BYU will have their (despised) storied “Holy War” game at the end of the year, albeit as part of the BIG 12.

Pretty sure you are a BYU fan. Lol very dumb take. Kiss our recruting momentum goodbye in the MWC.

I don’t know… In many ways we’d have a better shot at the playoff, and this could be enticing to recruits not good enough to play for blue bloods. We rarely compete with those teams for recruits anyway.
