Cam Rising told Bill Riley that he is ahead of schedule with his rehab and that he will be ready to play against Florida.

Good to hear.
Negative Nelly time but they always say this. Jordan Wynn was ahead of schedule if I remember correctly. Not saying they are lying. But I don’t think you can objectively judge your own ability until you start to play again. You have a tremendous amount of self interest when asked to evaluate yourself. Also the pressure to not let down fans, family coaches.-

Wynn was ahead of schedule but tentative – Then got taken out completely by that dickbag USU player (and an O-line that couldn’t block said dickbag) To be fair to the gaggie it wasn’t a violent hit, just a late shove

I remember Wynn throwing some pretty lame ducks against Northern Colorado prior to USU.

Jordan Wynn… If there is a name that reminds me that I am not a spring chicken anymore, it’s that one. Feels like he was here sooooo long ago, but it hasn’t been that long.

Yeah, I was just reporting what Bill Riley said. IMO – he will likely play. However, I doubt that he will be ready to run the entire offense, i.e., running the RPO.

I agree. These sorts of injuries can affect you for a very long time after you’ve healed enough to become comfortably functional. Our admin Tony once wrote following on the subject of Cam’s shoulder injury.
“Thanks to [redacted] for the update on Cam’s injury. Sounds like a torn labrum and bicep. I have personal experience in that department. I had a torn labrum, torn bicep, and torn rotator cuff. I had surgery on Feb 14, 2019. They cut off the end of the torn bicep and stretched it, reattaching it with a screw. 4 other screws in the rotator/labrum. It took me a year and a half to get to the point where I could attempt to swing a golf club. As of today I’m fully recovered and pain free, but I still can’t throw anything. I can’t get my arm back into the throwing position. There is a slight difference between an old dude and a college athlete so I’m sure he’ll recover faster than I did. But there’s some perspective for you.”
Cam went and turned it around the next season in a gutsy but losing effort against SDSU. And he was definitely not 100%, he made it in because Brewer was an unmitigated disaster. That turnaround was already irresponsibly fast and this time he has two fewer months to make it happen. But the prevailing narrative on this board is that you can sustain an ACL injury in January and be ready to roll in a D1 football game in September. Maybe. But I have my doubts.

I can’t remember if we know the severity of the ACL tear.
Apart from that, a QB recovering from an ACL is a bit different than recovering from an injury to their throwing arm because you can, to some extent, manage risk of further injury via play calling.

Derfinitely true but Cam’s arm is far from his strength. Without him being able to move he’s not much of a threat especially with our weak WR room. For his sake I hope he’s juicing, these injuries can stick with you for life.
