In a nutshell, each FBS team starts with land equaling all the counties closest to campus (relative to other schools).

When teams play, the winner receives all the land held by the loser; thus growing their territory.

This is why Utah has land in Florida and Utah. Utah didn’t get any land from Baylor because they already lost their land to Texas State (who then lost it to UTSA).

I love following this every year. I am not exactly sure why, but I love it.

It’s fun and silly. I love maps, so I enjoy it too even if it is chaotic and nonsensical.

So we won nothing at all from Baylor?

BTW, I love watching this map every year. we were doing pretty good in 2019 and 2021.

Correct, because Texas State had already taken it. Our next opportunity will be UCLA if they win this week

Baylor would have to win in order to have any land. You’ll notice that teams with 0 wins have no land.

I guess I still don’t get it. If the Utes have not lost why do they have so little land in Utah and BYU has so much land? Seems kind of dumb in my small brain. Also Washington has the whole northwest…can you show the map before the season starts too.

Week 1 starts with every county in the country assigned to the geographically closest university to the county seat. So, byu gets the benefit of being closer to a lot more counties because they are 60 miles south of us, same with USU.

        this is the preseason map:

Hawaii gets to sneak into Alaska? This is a creative idea. A little too creative.

Utah is sandwiched between USU and BYU so there isn’t much land for them to begin with. Florida also has other colleges close by so they don’t have much land to begin with. Baylor lost all of their land to TX St. And therefore had no land to lose to the Utes. If you live close to the Dakotas, you start with more land because they have no FBS schools, same with Montana, etc. Don’t look at it as how much land you have, but where it is.

Nice to have your opinion on it. I used to like it, but now I know it’s stupid. I’ll stop liking what you don’t like.

And now we have your opinion which hasn’t really added much to this stupid map.
