  Army, they of the Triple Option offense, is averaging more passing yards a game than Utah so far this season (146.7 yards versus 145 yards).

      I served 6+ years on submarines and 12+ years in an artillery unit. So I guess I go both ways.

        While in the Army, I spend 3 years working at the Naval Postgraduate School. I also have a lot of affinity for both the Army and Navy. It was always mind boggling to me that when those ships and boats go out, the crew could fix almost anything that goes wrong considering the incredible amount of stat-of-the-art onboard. Those on subs are at the top of respect.

        I played tennis at DLI every weekend I could in the mid 70s, did comp sci at MPC, and often ran motorcycles quick down the PCH on Sunday mornings to see the sunrise. Sad to see Ord gone.

        Holy cow Charlie, I lived right next door to MPC. In the fall, I used to walk down to the school and catch a couple of football games under the lights. Great atmosphere…I get what you’re saying about Ord but it’s still functioning…a lot of people that work at DLI and MPC actually live in the old housing areas and they still have a PX/Commissary…most of the fort’s land was turned over to the state and they actually built a university there, Cal State Monterey Bay (nickname Otters).

        Very awesome. Somewhere along ’74 ’75 MPC had a retired vet playing MLB. He was 51 and I always wondered how in the world an old guy makes that work but he was a hardy SOB. Fisherman’s Warf had SF beat and was not crowded.

        Sure is…I was there a few years ago with my family. The old barracks with unit insignias and slogans are still there though growing more decrepit every year.

        My father was FA during WWII, and in the 1950s he was one of the first to help develop ADA. Being from the east he was a hard core Army fan.

    One of my friend’s son plays for the Army Prep Academy. Should be on the Army football team next year. As an Army guy living about 50 miles from the Air Force Academy, I’m hoping to see him play at least twice. Man his dad is proud.
