Miami players were EMOTIONAL. Some were extremely p**sed and threw their helmets. Others were crying and had to be consoled by teammates. This is truly one of the worst choke jobs in sports history, not just CFB. Hopefully some of these good players transfer out and come play for the real U.

Believe it or not, I’m old enough to have seen something almost exactly like this happen in the NFL. It occurred in 1978 in a game between the Giants and Eagles. The Giants had the ball with about 30 seconds left and all they needed to do was snap the ball and kneel and the game would be over. Instead they ran a running play, the QB fumbled the snap and the ball was picked up by Herman Edwards, the former ASU HC, and he ran it in for a TD to win the game. Surreal moment…I do believe that the OC was fired the very next day for calling that play and not allowing the QB to check out of it.

It’s not even the first time Cristobal has done that. While at Oregon in 2018, he had a late lead against Stanford and instead of kneeling it out, had Verdell take a carry. Verdell fumbled, Stanford kicked a field goal to send it into overtime and the got the only score to win.

I wonder how many “For Sale” signs were waiting on Mario Cristobal’s lawn when he got home?
-
The Miami UteParticipant
At the end of this season, he’ll still be owed $64M on his contract. Based on that, my guess are no “For Sale” signs.

Looks so bad he could be fired “for cause”. Conduct detrimental to the reputation of of the institution.

The Athletic did a deep dive on this story. All three of Cristobal, his OC (who called the play) and his DC (who wasn’t able to stop GT from going 75 yards in 26 seconds with no time outs) issued very public mea culpas. Cristobal is getting soundly roasted in the national media because something very similar happened to him in 2018 versus Stanford. That loss could also potentially cost Miami a spot in the CCG or CFP, but that’s getting ahead of ourselves.

Fans throwing s**t on the field to end. Stay classy Miami.

Eagle, there’s a significant minority of Miami fans (the vast majority of which have never even set foot on the school) that are pretty trashy.

And Miami gets rewarded with a high four star recruit after this meltdown. Recruiting is stupid and makes no sense.

Unbelievable!!

Brutal. Can’t remember the opponent (seems it was someone from back east), but about a decade ago, a team paying a visit to UNLV, deep in Rebel territory in the closing seconds could have taken a knee but tried to score, and the Rebels forced a fumble which was run back for a winning TD. Oops.

UNLV vs. Baylor 1999. Check it out. Worse than this one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozQXl17VpG0

So Baylor did that in Waco. Bet the crowd was unhappy about that one.
