So Bishop is out the first half vs USC? Hopefully Ritchie can hold down the fort.

What a BS call that was.

In his post game press conference, Whitt did say they have already sent in the appeal, but that he’s not aware of any being overturned, but he’d like an explanation as to how and why.

the explanation is Pac-12 Refs. I’ve watched enough games in other conferences to know that play doesn’t get flagged, even if it was technically the right call. Watch an SEC game and if the players doesn’t get carted off, it’s a no-call because they look at intent.

Bishop absolutely hit a defenseless player in the head/neck area. Bishop also absolutely did everything he could to avoid the contact. Pac-12 refs don’t factor in intent which was supposed to be part of the rule change a couple of years ago. Complaining to the league office isn’t going to get any relief because they are the ones who are telling the refs to call it the way they do.

Whitt also pointed out that with 90+ appeals, the Pac has never overruled a targeting call.
