Also hard to believe that a guard can be so bad shooting free throws. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen someone throw up an air ball on a free throw.
Erickson will always get minutes because he’s a good defender. He turns the ball over more than Wooster and he doesn’t get boards like Wooster, but he’s not a traffic cone on the other end of the floor like Wooster.
Give and take. Erickson does turn the ball over in pressure in some sets. However, the two man game he had going with Keita was something of beauty that we have not see for sometime. He sometimes looks lost but then he was the best part of what got us thru crunch time at the end. Next, how to get his benefits without having to eat his liabilities?
Erickson should lose minutes once DSmith becomes eligible. We spoke with him at halftime of the Saint Mary’s game. He said he is expecting to become eligible any day. The clock keeps ticking though ……..if and when it happens you will see a massive improvement on defense.
He’s an energizer bunny and will be a much needed force that the team desperately needs on the floor.
He will be our lockdown guard on the perimeter against those pesky small good shooting guards. Will cause steals that become fast breaks. We needed him against Houston badly.
Erickson had his best game to date but if we are counting on his minutes we are who we are and will struggle in guard oriented games where our bigs become secondary. Press breaking will also be a premium and Smith easily beats Erickson in that category.
You can see it in Smiths eyes he’s salivating to get out there. He will instantly become a fan favorite! That’s my hopeful opinion🤗
