ParticipantUtah lax plays Jacksonville University today in the ASUN conference championship at 11 MT on ESPN+. Winner goes to the NCAA tourney! Utah beat Jacksonville earlier this season and should be favored but it will be a tough matchup, Jacksonville is a sneaky good team. Go Utes!

ParticipantI know nothing about LAX but watching on ESPN+. Why does Jacksonville get the ball back every time they miss a shot on goal and it goes out of bounds? Seems like it would switch possession

ParticipantIn lacrosse on a missed shot, the team closer to the ball when it goes out of bounds gets possession. Offensive team will usually have a player behind the goal for that reason.

Participantute3333 is correct. But that rule only applies at the field’s ends, behind the cage. In the sidelines it amounts to a turnover.

ParticipantUTAH WINS!!!
16-13
Up next: The national tournament.
There’s a 100% chance we’ll enter the tournament as one of the “unseeded” teams, which means there’s probably a 90% chance we won’t make it past the 1st-Rd, but there’s also an outside chance we could finish the season ranked in the Top-20.
A win in the 1st-Rd would guarantee a ranked finish.
GO UTES!!!

ParticipantWith Michigan and Lehigh winning their respective Conference tournaments, a few good teams could be left out of the tournament. Hopefully we don’t get a draw vs an ACC team.

ParticipantLooking at the current eligible playing field, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Utah get relegated to the “play-in” game (vs Sacred Heart) — with the winner going on to face the #1 team in the country: Notre Dame…..of the ACC.
We’ll beat Sacred Heart. But a 1st-Rd tournament rematch vs. defending national champion/#1-ranked Notre Dame is not ideal.

ParticipantIf RPI means anything…
Utah 24
Sacred Heart 32
Albany 36.
I would think that will put us against the #2 national seed Duke? Either way it’s likely to be a rough day for the Utes. I like how fast we have become relevant in D1 lacrosse but we are still a long ways from competing with top 10.
Philadelphia, you now have 5 lacrosse friends here. 😂-
