B12 Twitter – Utah’s Response: Short 4 Picture Read

It kind of sucks that it is so transparent Utah wants to leave. I feel like it has been leaked intentionally to apply leverage at this point.

I am really sick of the whole college realignment thing. I hope it starts to affect ratings at this point. I am at a point where I don’t even really want to watch Utah play unless it is a home game and I can sit my ass in the Stadium. Feels like eventually this whole money thing won’t last but the getting is good now.

Yeah, the most disingenuous thing from Big12 fans is acting like we are the only school that would jump to the B1G or the SEac in a heartbeat. Every school, including Utah, in the Big-12 know that we all are at risk of being left behind like Wazzu and OSU. And if every school in the Big12 isn’t doing all they can to get themselves in the future top level of CFB they are negligent.

I guarantee that it’s not just Utah that is lobbying and positioning, Kansas and OK State definitely are. But for some reason we are the only ones criticized for it.

I expect that this misperception of Utah by B12 fans created by our Twitterphiles will be helped with face to face fan interaction at home and away games. In my experience we’re generally good to other fans.

Our Twitterphiles have for certain written a check I hope our team can cash. Hate what they’ve done, because they don’t represent the majority.

Who is this guy and what makes him think he understands the position of all Utah fans?

Some of that is accurate, but the idea that twitter b12 fans somehow made an entire fan base, 98% of which have zero visibility into the tweetesphere, all rally simultaneously to adopt this villainous persona is weird.

95% of the fan base isn’t engaged in any of this and hasn’t changed. 95% of the b12 fan base probably doesn’t care either and are looking forward to playing Utah. We are disappointed in the loss of geographically relevant rivalries with brands that are bigger that what’s left in the b12, and the b12 fans are disappointed at the loss of their geographically relevant rivalries with brands that are bigger than us. Wherever that meets in the middle is just honest competitive spirit mixed with a touch of nostalgic pride. Only a handful of people have actually engaged in any of the b12 vs utah online foolishness, or even care. That narrative is completely made up and really is only perpetuated by a very small amount of fans that like to pound on their keyboards to prove points that are at best totally subjective and at worst totally subjective.

I think it’ll be fun to play new teams and new fans. I don’t think the destinations are as desirable, and I don’t think the teams have as much cache’, but I suspect people in those markets aren’t just itching to come to Salt Lake City either.

I’m looking forward to this era, for however long it lasts, and I hope that the team does all of it’s talking on the field.
