The athletic predicts the teams that will participate in he playoff: prediction article

Two things stuck out to me:

      1) Utah is projected in as the the Big-12 champion, and listed as having a 45% chance overall of making the playoff (20-something percent chance of winning the Big-12).

      2) Boise State is their prediction for the G-5 team. Have we ever beaten them? Hopefully they would get to play OSU or Georgia or something, rather than showing up in RES for a playoff game.

very low % chance that there is a home playoff game in RES in the current CFP format since they would have to be a 5 to 8 seed instead of a conference champ.

With the current emphasis on the big 2, the only way I could see that happening is an undefeated regular season and then losing the CCG by a close enough score that they don’t drop to 9. When it comes to depending on the committee for seeding a non-SEC or B1G team 5 through 8, let’s just say that I’m going to be skeptical until proven otherwise. This is the same group of people that have continually created whatever pretzel logic is necessary to get the outcome that ESPN most desires every year.

Conference championships matter.,, until they don’t
Head to head matters.,, until it doesn’t
Not losing matters.,, until it doesn’t
      Scheduling tough? yeah, right

Yep the chances of a home playoff game at RES are essentially zero. It will be Top 10 BIG/SEC teams that do not win their conference or Notre Dame.

Scheduling tough is and always has been a bad idea if the goal is the best postseason placement possible. Just win football games. That is all that matters.

As far as playing Boise…this ain’t your momma’s Boise anymore and we actually have QB’s now.

The years Boise played and beat us, we never had a healthy QB.

We would absolutely destroy Boise St today.
