Not sure if/how this will affect Utah but I think they need to at least kick the tires. If the money is similar to Big-12, would a move back to West Coast opponents where they could be the big fish in a small pond be of interest?

Maybe bring the Arizona and Bay area schools back and it really wouldn’t have less prestige than the current Big-12. Vegas for the twelfth team? Any move away from having to share a conference with the parochial school would be a plus in my book, especially if the rebuilt Pac-12 got its AQ status back.

To have any shot at legitimacy on par with, or better than, the Big XII, you would need more than just ASU, Arizona, Cal, & Stanford. The plan they are working on is just a slightly better MWC.

Drop Fresno and CSU, bring along the four already mentioned plus Colorado, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Baylor, and TCU. Now you’ve got something of worth and you kill your biggest western competitor in the Big XII. But those teams aren’t going to leave and neither is Utah.

Utah’s best option is to stay in the Big XII unless an invite to the B1G comes or the Pac-12 decides to get the band back together.

No thanks, the brands in that league are less than what we have now. And that is saying a lot. But at this point whatever…

They’re creating probably the best G5 football conference. But it’ll stay at the G5 level. I’m just happy the pac12 is finding some form of footing after the mass exodus.

The only prior pac12 teams I could see going back are Cal and Stanford. Apparently they signed pretty awful deals with the ACC out of desperation.

Aren’t they stuck in the ACC like everyone else in that conference (for now)?

The name of the conference is about the least important thing ever

Keep your eyes on Tulane, South Florida and Gonzaga next.
