I know I will catch some heat for this, but I really think we end up landing Jerome. I know people want to focus on this current season, but I cannot help but think that we land a very talented young man in Jerome. Isaac absolutely balled out today considering it was his first start, and Jerome of course noticed that. It is no secret that it will be Isaac throwing the ball if Jerome comes here, so that should make Jerome happy. I know what the predictions say, but CB’s the last year or two have been pretty inconsistent, “experts” swap them last minute. Look at Chistian Thatcher, everyone thought he was a USC lean until last minute. Utah could very well be the university Jerome represents next year!

I think you could be right if NIL wasn’t involved. But it is.

Let’s be honest, it’s U$C there was going to be a bag NIL or not.

Good point. In a vacuum, my point is valid, in reality, you are correct.

Isaac throwing the ball to receivers quite often yesterday certainly didn’t hurt our chances. I still think it’s going to be tough going up against USC, but we’ll see.

I’m not certain NIL plays a large role on whether Myles goes to USC or not. Besides what I’ve heard Riley say about NIL and how it’s used at USC, I know a couple of guys that are involved in House of Victory, the USC NIL collective, that have told me that they reserve their large NIL payouts for guys that have already proven themselves in college football. So, essentially, the guys that get the NIL bag are high profile transfers from other schools or USC recruits, like Zach Branch, that have already shown star power. What USC can offer Myles is the ability to be a contributor in a high-powered offense and, if he’s the real deal, have that be the avenue to a lucrative NIL deal. However, that schpiel is also given to numerous other guys and, without a doubt, Myles will face a lot more competition for a starring role at USC than at Utah. As a cautionary tale, Myles should look at what happened to Singer’s fortunes once he left Arizona for USC. By leaving Arizona, Singer, who was a 1st Team All PAC 12 WR in 2022, has essentially wrecked his NFL career prospects. From a prospect standpoint, it’s better to be a big fish in a small pond than vice versa.
