I watched Avery Johnson (Kansas St) and Isaac Wilson (Utah) last Saturday as they led their teams to wins. Good performances each, against good teams. Johnson is a sophomore with a considerable head start in playing time, but Wilson looked the better throwing QB. I expect they will be the top two B12 QBs next year, and I look forward to seeing them on opposite sides when Kansas State comes to town in 2025.

Stats for each in wins over Arizona and Utah State respectively

      C/ATT / YDS / AVG / TD / INT / QBR
      Avery Johnson 14/23 / 156 / 6.8 / 2 / 0 / 75.2
      Isaac Wilson 20/33 / 239 / 7.2 / 3 / 1 / 60.2

      CAR / YDS / AVG / TD / LONG
      Avery Johnson 17 / 110 / 6.5 / 0 / 26
      Isaac Wilson 4 / 9 / 2.3 / 0 / 11

      Avery Johnson (2023) Sophomore Height 6-2 / Weight 192 (247 National Rank – 95, QB 9 / State 1)
      Isaac Wilson (2024) Freshman Height 6-0 / Weight 200 (247 National Rank – 90, QB 21 / State 3)

Wilson’s numbers would be better if it weren’t for the 4 or 6 drops. He zips the balls and the receivers were caught off guard.

In the 1st Q his adrenaline might have been running a bit high too on some throws.

Johnson and Kansas State will be the team to beat next year and possibly be year after.

I think Isaac needs another year and we are looking at 2026 to be highly competitive again.

I think that Isaac has a huge upside. Johnson will have a year of playing under his belt next season. Hopefully, Isaac will have very limited action this year and will lack experience. If Fifita decides to come back next season – he will be the best QB in the league IMO.

I think Isaac could be great and may be an NFL guy. Isaac has not shown his running ability yet. But, he is a great runner. I think he had something like 200 yards rushing in last year’s state championship game.
