It as strange that everyone he got the ball, the oline missed blocks.

Not sure if it was Mitchell going to the wrong hole, the oline has a grudge or what, but Mitchell was met in the backfield nearly every time he touched it.

It’s like the defense knew when he was in, it was a run play.

DJ Stanley wasn’t any better. Running backs need to help Bernard out.

Mitchell had some misses but the play calling for he and Stanley isn’t helping. Same issue with Vaki last year in that whenever he came on the field he was going to get the ball.

Ludwig needs to do a little self-scouting so that he can use those tendencies to set up something else. The Parks shovel pass TD off the fake reverse to Stanley against Baylor is a perfect example. Until he does that enough, you’ll get defenses like OSU yesterday that wasn’t fooled by the Stanley wheel route.

I have similar concerns. I’m aware of all the context (high ankle sprain, freshman, predictable play calling) but he’s too much of a straight ahead bowling ball. Hoping to start seeing some improvements soon.

It seems they tend to put him in for short yardage situations- everyone knows he is trying to get the 2yds for 1st down. Makes defensive play calling predictable.

One of those was a 4th down conversion.
