      We could be Florida State, who’s now 1-4 after getting their doors blown off last night in Dallas by SMU. In case you weren’t keeping score, FSU’s roster has a blue chip ratio (BCR) of 49 percent (that’s the percentage of a roster that’s composed of players that are four and five-star recruits). Ohio State is the leader with a 90 percent BCR…even my other school, Miami, is up there with a 61 percent BCR. Below is the list of the Top 16 teams for the 2024 season:

      1. Ohio St 90%

      2. Alabama 88%

      3. Georgia 80%

      4. Texas A&M 79%

      5. Oregon 76%

      6. Oklahoma 73%

      7. Texas 72%

      8. LSU 70%

      9. Notre Dame 67%

      10. Clemson 64%

      11. Florida 63%

      12. Miami 61%

      13. Penn State 61%

      14. USC 59%

      15. Michigan 56%

      16. Auburn 53%

      No team in the current Big XII is anywhere near the BCR 50% threshold, which makes it highly unlikely they’ll ever challenge for the National Championship. The reason I say this is because since the BCR started getting tracked, all 13 teams that have won national titles have been above the magic 50% blue-chip ratio line.

        Absolutely…it basically means that Utah, and the rest of its Big XII compatriots, have zero chance of ever winning a national title.

      And there are some that believe we can get by just fine with 3-stars and “development”..ain’t going to happen.

        You can get by if that’s all you want to do…but you’re never going to really win anything.

        Here’s the bad news…does this mean we won’t see a Big 12 team winning a national championship in the next three years? While it’s not entirely out of the question, the data suggests it’s becoming less likely as the SEC and Big Ten continue to dominate.

        Of the 16 teams in the BCR list, 13 belong to either the SEC or Big Ten. The SEC alone has eight teams on the list, more than the combined total of the Big Ten and ACC. Notre Dame stands as the only independent team outside of any conference.

        So, if you’re hoping for a Big 12 team to break through anytime soon, the odds aren’t in your favor. While it’s possible for a team to beat the odds, it hasn’t happened since the BCR started getting tracked.
