Grew up with the Salt Lake Golden Eagles in the old Salt Palace (an excellent hockey venue which wasn’t so great for hoops (sight lines were horrible in the blue dress circle behind the baskets).

Will be interesting to see how they reconfigure the Delta Center to accommodate both sports. Going to have to make major changes on the ends.

I was there! Great atmosphere. You can’t beat hockey if you like constant action. Once the area gets refurbished, it’ll be a great place to watch the Clubbers.

Jim, even though Ryan Smith is a BYU guy, the SEG does things right. Last night, every seat in the arena had a rally scarf and a commemorative t-shirt draped over it (free of charge) and, after the game, every fan got a commemorative hockey puck. I bought 12 game season ticket pack, primarily to watch East Coast teams, but I’ll definitely root for the UHC when they’re not playing the Panthers.

I was there and in a restricted view seat. I also attended the pre-season opener in seats three rows off the goalie! Man what a difference a seat makes! In the restricted view seats, once you get used to switching to the jumbotron when the action goes past your sight line, it isn’t all that bad. I did have some serious issues with how they displayed penalty time though and also just the general lack of announcements for penalties and line calls was also super annoying. They have some work to do but overall it was very fun and exciting.

You’re on it Rick…my actual season tickets are not restricted view but I had restricted view seats for this game since the Bhawks are not part of my package. My biggest peeve is that I could never see the clock for the time remaining in penalties. That drove me crazy during the game. I can also say that while a restricted view might be fine for one or two games, I can’t see myself buying season tickets there, no matter how cheap they are. That’s something that needs to get resolved (and I know it will) ASAP.

so sorry fellas, I am unable to do the Ryan smith byu connection.

I am not aboard with the funneling of money to byu, and the tax raise for SLC residents.

true Ute fans do not support byu in any way shape or form.
