Teams that would want Cam in 2025

  I started thinking about how coveted Cam would be in the transfer portal for 2025 assuming he didn’t play for Utah.
  
  If he was healthy — which he never is — how many teams would want him in the portal? For transfer purposes, I think a ton of teams that are one or two pieces away from contention would be willing to take the gamble on him.
  
  I thought of the following teams immediately: Notre Dame, Miami, Wisconsin, Boston College, Illinois, Arkansas, Florida State and Oklahoma.

  Watch him stay healthy and light it up at a new program (should he choose that path). Penix had a stellar year after being perpetually injured. No reason Cam couldn’t do it.

  USC, Oregon, Colorado, Arizona, Alabama, Mississippi…and Penix had not one, but two stellar years at UW. He actually had the same number of pass attempts in his first season at UW as he did during his four years at Indiana. Penix’s only injury at UW was hurting his ankle in the NCG. I have zero doubt that Cam could get picked up by a major program, make more money than he did at Utah, and have zero injuries during his time there.

    Fifita’s coming back next year. I guess I should say he will be playing in college next year, with the school to be determined. So I wouldn’t count on the Arizona job opening.

  These is just my opinion and could totally be wrong.
  
  Top tier: Michigan and Notre Dame. Both are bluebloods with traditionally strong O-lines and they currently have bad QB situations, especially after this year. Plus, these teams also have similar offensive philosophies to Whitt, with the emphasis on a strong run game and a QB that doesn’t have to be all-American.
  
  Second tier: Ole Miss, UCLA, UGA, FSU, and Miami. I’m pretty sure All these teams will lose their current starters and could offer a good payday. I doubt he’d choose ole Miss though, as they will lose A LOT after this year, and potentially Lane Kiffin. UCLA is a hometown team, but they are AWFUL and will be so again next year. I doubt Cam would want to play for them. Plus, I’d hope wouldn’t go there since we play them next year. Cam would be an upgrade over DJU. Miami is losing their Cam (Ward), and Cristobal also builds good O-lines. UGA has a similar offensive philosophy to us.
  
  Third tier: Projected good G5 teams next year that can pay him well, whoever that is.
  
  I’d hope he doesn’t pick a big 12 team.

  Ok all the people saying Cam would be able do this and that and how great he could be for some other team while ushering him out there door.. why is it you don’t think he’d be able to do that for us.. again?

    I don’t think the risk is worth it. Unfortunately his health situation has placed the QB room in a very precarious situation for many years. While it might be worth it for another program to take a flier on him being healthy, I don’t think it is in the best interest for Utah to continue to hitch its wagon to one player with a clear history of not being able to stay on the field.

    We’re just discussing other openings. No one knows what he wants to do or even if he can ever get to the level those schools would want.
    
    For me, his name and the endless discussion around him has been nails on a chalkboard and I don’t want to go through that anymore. It had gotten to the point that I didn’t want to watch or follow Utah football anymore and I don’t think I’m the only one. It’s well past time to move on.

    Cam has already suffered three season-ending injuries as a member of the Utes. He’s also been at Utah for six seasons. Everything has an expiration date, and Cam’s relationship with Utah has reached it.

        It was a season-ending injury in the sense that the injury ended Cam’s season (granted, it was late during the bowl game).
        
        Edit–regardless of semantics, we can all agree that the dude is injury prone.

    It is simply not worth the risk to take cam back for us, especially with our limited NIL funds and then potentially driving away Isaac Wilson. I’d rather use that NIL money on rebuilding the WR and RB room.

      Cam’s NIL easily gets you three (or more) top-flight performers at other positions. You’re better off letting him go, as long as you have Isaac at a reasonable rate (which you will seeing as Isaac hasn’t really done anything to warrant a huge QB expense), and use that money to help the team in other positions.
      
      I do want to say one thing, and that is that a fan should never fall in love with any particular player. If you have the opportunity to improve the team, you should do it, no matter the inconvenience.
      
      So, if an experienced QB (let’s say a guy like Maddux Madsen at BSU) is available and he’s better than Isaac, Utah should bring him in, even if it causes Isaac heartburn or forces him to transfer.

        if potentially bringing someone in makes Wilson even think about transferring, then you have to do it. Otherwise you create the exact same situation Utah is currently in. Wilson could go down on any play and not having a qualified backup is always unacceptable.
        
        It is now a professional sport in everything but name and needs to be treated as such. As soon as you have a starter you bring in people who can either force him to be even better or take over the job themselves. Next man up is just a cliche if the next man can’t do the job.

        I agree, but I don’t think we would actually get anyone good with our current QB situation. Next year will be Wilson vs Huard vs Rose as the QB battle. If Rose transfers, I definitely say we should sign an unproven 4 star underclassmen, but not a mediocre starter like Madsen

    Curious if teams with Coaches potentially on a hotseat would be more willing to take a chance on Cam. Three that come to mind are South Carolina, Kentucky, and Wisconsin.
    
    Either way I would love to see Cam take another shot. I don’t care how old he is or how long he’s been in college. The rules are different now.

      1) I don’t think Beamer, Stoops, or Fickell or on the hot seat.
      
      2) South Carolina has LaNorris Sellers and Kentucky has Brock Vandagriff. Not sure about Wisconsin.
      
      That reminds me though. Vanderbilt loses Pavia after this season, so maybe Vandy. What also saddens me is that we may have even been able to sign Pavia if Cam didn’t come back. That would have been nice.

  I think the list of teams that would want an 8th year starter who has had one year injury free might be about as long a list as the list of Kamala’s greatest achievements –
