A little nervous but I decided to take the leap and put my writing out there. I welcome any constructive feedback.

      “A Quiet Victory”

The rain had been coming down in sheets all day, the kind of storm that soaked through clothes and made everything feel muted, almost dreamlike. Kyle Whittingham stood by the window of his office, looking out over the practice field. The lights from the stadium were still on, casting an eerie glow over the soaked turf. His thoughts were a mix of strategies, next season’s plans, and the weight of his responsibility as head coach of the University of Utah’s football team.

But there was something else on his mind.

Cam Rising had just finished his final season with the team, leading them to a hard-fought victory in the Pac-12 championship. The young quarterback had more than earned his place in the spotlight, with grit, heart, and a fierce determination that matched Kyle’s own.

Kyle had been coaching for decades, but he’d never quite met a player like Cam. His presence was magnetic, both on and off the field—confident but not c**ky, focused but never rigid. There was an intensity in the way Cam looked at life, at football, and at everything he cared about. Kyle had seen it all in his players, but never like this. The bond they’d formed over the years had grown deeper than he’d ever anticipated. It wasn’t just coaching anymore.

The knock on the door broke his reverie.

“Coach?” Cam’s voice was soft but purposeful.

Kyle turned around, his heart giving an unexpected lurch at the sight of the young man standing in the doorway, damp from the rain, but with that same quiet intensity in his eyes. Cam was still in his gear, his face streaked with a mix of sweat and rain.

“Come in, Cam,” Kyle said, his voice steady, betraying none of the thoughts swirling inside his head.

Cam stepped inside, closing the door behind him with a deliberate click. There was a moment of silence, the air thick with unspoken words. Cam shifted his weight, glancing at the floor before meeting Kyle’s gaze.

“I know this is… probably not the time,” Cam began, his voice low but steady. “But I just wanted to thank you. For everything. For pushing me, for believing in me when no one else did.”

Kyle felt a tug at his chest. He’d always prided himself on being a mentor, but hearing Cam speak like that—it hit differently. He wasn’t used to receiving thanks. It felt more personal than he expected.

“You earned it,” Kyle said, stepping closer to Cam. The space between them felt charged, as if years of silent moments, fleeting glances, and the unspoken bond they shared were converging at once. “You’ve done more than anyone could’ve asked for. But you—”

Cam stepped forward, closing the small gap between them. His eyes locked on Kyle’s, and for a moment, the room seemed to shrink around them. There was no mistaking the intensity in Cam’s gaze now. It was something more than gratitude. Something far more personal.

“Coach,” Cam said, his voice almost a whisper, “I don’t think you understand how much you’ve meant to me. Not just as a coach, but… as someone who’s always had my back. Even when it was hard.”

Kyle’s pulse quickened, and for the first time in a long while, he felt completely unmoored, his emotions thrown into a whirlwind he couldn’t control. He wanted to say something, to step back, to keep this professional. But something in the way Cam looked at him—the raw honesty, the intensity—made his resolve falter.

“Cam, I…” Kyle started, but his words caught in his throat. The space between them felt electric, charged with a tension neither of them had addressed before. “We can’t…”

“I know,” Cam said, his voice almost too soft, too knowing. “But we don’t have to talk about it. Not right now.” He moved a fraction closer, just enough for Kyle to feel the heat radiating from his body, the thud of his heartbeat. “I just wanted you to know that… I see you. I always have.”

Kyle felt himself take a step closer, almost against his will. The words on the tip of his tongue faltered, replaced by something deeper. He could feel the weight of his own hesitation, but it was overwhelmed by the pull of Cam’s presence, the undeniable connection between them.

And then, in a moment that seemed both inevitable and impossible, Cam closed the distance.

His lips met Kyle’s, tentative at first, as if testing the waters of a world neither of them had ever dared to step into. But then Kyle responded, his hands finding Cam’s shoulders, drawing him closer. The kiss deepened, and for a moment, it was like time had stopped. The outside world faded away, leaving only the rush of their connection, the quiet, intimate victory of being seen and understood in a way neither of them had expected.

When they finally pulled apart, breathless and vulnerable, Kyle’s mind swirled with a thousand thoughts. But the only one that lingered was the feeling of Cam in his arms, the quiet certainty of something new, something unspoken, and yet completely understood.

“We’ll figure it out,” Cam whispered, as if sensing Kyle’s uncertainty.

“I don’t know if we can,” Kyle said, his voice thick with emotion.

“But we will,” Cam replied, with a quiet confidence that matched his eyes.

Kyle closed his eyes, feeling a deep sense of peace wash over him. Maybe some victories weren’t meant to be earned on the field.

Maybe some were meant to be felt, in the quiet moments when no one else was watching.

The writing was incredible. The content was bothersome. To each their own.

Disturbing doesn’t begin to describe this absolutely ridiculous piece of writing. This kind of tawdry romance must be written by a puerile weirdo with some strange axe to grind in what can only charitably be described as an absolute pathetic grasp at attention. It is more likely the writer courts rage, feeding off the inevitable reactions of horror with a kind of twisted glee that only a truly disturbed mind could find funny. This isn’t funny or titillating. There is just one word to accurately describe this kind of immature content.

      Dogs**t.

It’s not about cancel culture Bub.
          I don’t have a woke agenda.
It’s about keeping the board free of ridiculous nonsense posts that don’t bring anything of value to the site.

          Got it Bub?

I’ll just stick with utenation and utezone where I don’t have to put up with Zoob trolls cluttering up those boards.
