Saving 3 seconds was not worth stopping the clock for them. TSPP had shown over and over that they were terrible at clock management, so make them play under the full pressure of the ticking clock. It’s far more likely that they would’ve faltered under the pressure than us being able to score with 3 seconds.
Clock operator didn’t do Utah any favors. They just stopped it at 59 seconds. Despite the Poo Poo player being in bounds.
Always weird s**t with these games.
Like I have said I don’t want to play them anymore. Utah needs to get back to winning and plead to leave the Big12. My only cope right now.
Whitt has always been horrible with using timeouts at the end of games. He did the same thing in the Houston game. I also remember a big game against Washington a few years back where his screwing up of timeouts cost us a game.
it was strange to me but shouldn’t have been after all the years of watching Whitt. If you can call your TO’s so that even if they make the FG, you have 30+ seconds left it’s a good strategy. But if they are going to get two plays to try to score and still run all the time off? Stop helping them.
Same stupid strategy he tried against UW in 2017. Petersen said “well if you really want me to score, I think I will”.
