      McBride went 8-4 in 2001 with a Vegas Bowl win (before 40 bowl games existed). He then went 5-6 in 2002 and was shown the door.

      Whittingham went 8-5 last year with a Vegas Bowl loss. He is now 4-5 and Utah most likely won’t win the next two games. If he produces a 4-8 or 5-7 season result, what do you do? You can only live on your past for so long. He hasn’t won a bowl game since 2017, so even that luster is gone.

      I know I am annoyed with this year but he seems to not care. I miss the yelling, screaming at players, and going after refs kind of passion Whittingham used to have. College football has changed a bunch over the last few years and maybe he is just tired of it. It got the best of Saban over the last year or two.

      Stupid coaching:

      Kicking to a kid who is an elite KR when you take the momentum and dominating them defensively. Whittingham’s obsession with that high kick is perplexing.

      It should have been 21-3 at halftime.

      2nd and 3 or 4 in the second half. This is the down you play for. You can do anything. Utah runs it up the middle for 3rd and 1. Then we get a penalty. 3rd and 10.

      Whittingham’s mantra to run the ball every first and second down. It feels like every f**king 3rd down is 3rd and long.

      This loss is 100% on Whitt’s inability to do anything offensively. Hell, the last two years are 100% on Whitt’s inability to do anything offensively.

      The game has passed him by.

      Say we let Whitt go, do you still give the HC job to Scalley or open it up to anyone?

        The school is contractually obligated to give it to him. I’m sure it would cost the university a ton of money to renege.

      McBride had a losing season in 2000 that contributed to his firing after 2002.

      Whittingham isn’t going to be fired two years removed from back to back Pac-12 championships. However, I’ve had a feeling since the season began that he is going to retire at the end of this season. With how this season is playing out, I’m even more convinced he is calling it a career and handing the keys over to Scalley.
