all of you that bash Wilson, I think are incorrect. he plays his heart out and gives it all, it is the Offense staff that holds him down, get a clue here coaching is the issue!

I’m not sure anyone is arguing that he doesn’t play his heart out, but that is half the equation. His pocket awareness is not great and the delayed decision making isn’t helping. It seemed like such a step up to Brandon Rose. I would agree that it is a coaching problem if we got similar results from Brandon Rose, but we didn’t. I recognize the sample size for Brandon Rose is small, but he looked great until he got hurt. Would love to be wrong on Wilson and maybe he gets better with another offseason under his belt.

Brandon Rose a step up from Isaac? You don’t say. It’s almost as if Rose has been in the program for a few years vs an 18 year old true freshman. This sub needs to get an absolute grip. I almost feel like some Ute fans, the same ones that hated on Zach and said he was trash are wanting Isaac to produce like Zach’s Covid year. This season has been extremely frustrating but I feel a lot of fans are trying to blame the season on Isaac. Look at Riola, true freshman, also struggling this year. Calm TF down. We needed a humbling season because some you y’all act like we are a dynasty.

True Freshman QB = steep learning curve

History shows true Freshmen QB almost always do better with at least one year of learning from the sidelines. Combine this with the dysfunction in the program and it adds up to a tough year. We need to give Isaac a break.

The million dollar question is does Wilson or Rose transfer or do they stay and fight. Wilson has got valuable snaps that freshman rarely get. In hindsight Rose should have been the back up.

Both have room for improvement and if they both stay along with Huard the QB room could be strong. The QB competition will be intense. A new OC and fresh start will create some new excitement in the program.

Our biggest need is RB and a couple playmakers on the outside. Retzlaf was 0-4 last year and looked horrible. Our QBs needed game experience and now have it. I think the future looks bright going forward. Patience Ute fans. Rome wasn’t built in one night.

Don’t put your eggs in the Huard basket. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if he ended up throwing the same number of passes in his Utah career as Cooper Bateman. Or me. But at least my total fit with my recruiting ranking.,,

Which is crazy given one was a 5* and the other a PWO or 1 offer recruit (I forget which Bateman was).

Bateman was a 4 star out of Cottonwood who went to Alabama. Maybe you are thinking of Cooper Justice who was Ludwig’s first QB recruit in 2019?

              Cooper Bateman, class of 2013

My bad, I was thinking the left hander out of a Washington or Oregon HS that wasn’t recruited by anyone else. Wrong Cooper. Huard’s college career sadly is similar to Cooper Bateman’s.

Not to mention, bringing Bateman back to Utah was completely Whitt. He tried to turn him into a TE. If there is one constant in Utah’s QB recruiting, it’s that they will most likely be better suited for another position or sport.

I feel I have seen a sufficient # of eye opening plays from Issac that his potential is substantial, and I hope he stays put and competes for the starting position next year. I sort of understand Whitt holding out for a healthy Rising but it’s now time (hopefully) to move past Cam and focus on the future. I anticipate a decent transfer QB or two this off-season but feel fairly confident that in Huard, Rose, and Wilson, a suitable QB will emerge.

Good QBs move quickly in the portal. As another poster said, how are we going to have those conversations when we don’t have an OC to lead them?

I think we miss on all targets because we have nothing to sell and Whitt ALWAYS takes his time picking coordinators.

We will be deep into portal season before one is named, and that is not going to help our cause next year.

We need to act fast, make a statement that turns heads and gets attention.

I think Utah needs to hit the portal and bring in another quarterback. Not saying Wilson can’t be the “guy” but I want a good competition in spring ball. I personally don’t think Wilson is the answer but a lot of that depends on the new OC.
