If Utah wants to take the next step in the INL era, I don’t think Scalley could do it! I think he is a fantastic coach but in this day and age of College Football if you want to get to that next level you have to be able to bring in high profile recruits! Brian Johnson and all the success he has had in the NFL would do just that. What he was able to do with Dak Prescott and then Jaylon Hurts at the Eagles and the amazing job he is doing with Jayden Daniel’s at the Commanders speaks volumes of what he can bring to Utah. If they can pull him away for the OC job at Utah that would be awesome but it makes more sense to give him the Job. Utah will then have the kids committing (especially on the Offensive side) that we lose out to on a yearly basis.
Do we really think Brian would want to be OC for a BigXII team? IF he came back to the college game, I think it would be for a head coaching job at a smaller school or an OC position at a major SEC or B10 school. Just my opinion.
I agree thats why I think they need to make him the new head coach and not Scalley. Scalley is great don’t get me wrong but Brian will take the program to another level. Head coach for sure. As far as leaving to becoming a OC in the Big 12 if the money is right (which would be hard) and you love your Alma mater then why not?
Sorry, man. I missed the part about him becoming head coach. We could possibly pull that off, but I think Morgan will be a solid hire. I think the game is unrecognizable to these older coaches (Whitt, Saban, etc) and we may be better off with a youth movement.
Brian Johnson? Please tell me that Utah has better options for it’s future
I could literally throw a dart at cork board with all 133 names of current FBS coaches (minus Whitt of course) and come up with a better option to take over the program starting in 7 days than Brian Johnson no matter what upside you think he has.
