I remember being frustrated with the offensive output in the last few seasons of McBride’s tenure. I can’t help but think that the last two years post Rising is feeling a lot like the last few years of McBride. A team with a lot of talent and potential that can’t seem to put it together on a consistent basis on offense.
It seems like a new OC hire and philosophy needs to be the right one right now. If not, the program could easily go the way of OSU real quickly. Considering the number of home games we lost this year, we are not that far away from the wheels coming completely off.
Of course things could also go the opposite way and we could be sitting on top of the conference next year, but given the OC carousel under Whittingham’s head coaching career, I wouldn’t count on it at this point. I think the problem with the Lud offensive system was correctly identified, but I don’t trust Whittingham to make the correct choices to fix it.
