Anyone care? Comments here. I won’t be able to watch it. I’ll be skiing. 🙂

No. Path of Exile 2 is out and it is glorious.

I can’t believe I’m cheering for Sparky. Of all the PAC 12 teams, I’ve hated then the most in the past. I think a lot of that went to the coaches. But I kind like Dillingham and am pulling for them.
I’m not as down on the Big XII as others here. Partly because beggars can’t be choosers and I remember the desperation I felt when we might not get a real conference. I understand the arguments but I’m trying to invest in the new conference.
Go forks!

I’m cheering for ASU, Oregon, Texas and SMU today! It would be great to see the new teams win their conferences.

Yeah, I’ve not been a fan of ASU either, but I think it had more been the coaching and a few dirty plays.
It pains me to pull for ASU and Oregon, but I do find myself pulling for (not cheering for) the old PAC12 schools.
To me, Oregon has been similar to USC they just don’t hide that they are Nike U and had paid for players even before NIL.
With that said, I’m wondering what all the people after the Utes lost to ASU posted how bad or pedestrian ASU and Scattebo were and how could the Utes D be so bad, think now

The big 12 has no consistency in quarterback contact calls

Yeah, live I thought wheres the flag and then it came in late. Replay when you show it slowed down it didn’t look as bad but still targeting. Defender could’ve easily avoided the penalty as well.
Now, ISU might start having the same reasons many of us Ute fans had for not liking ASU.

Casual watching interest for BSU, ASU, UO, SMU and Texas. BSU is a crazy story in the new B12 format. The Boise HC Daniels was hired mid-December last year after Andy Avalos was fired mid-season 2023 with a 17-5 conference record, 22-14 overall. Daniels has arguably the top Heisman candidate in Jeanty and a bye going into the CFP play-off something KW and Gundy after head coaching 20+ years likely never achieve. Crazy Daniels has been a HC less than one year. The college football gods work in mysterious ways. OSU is publicly proposing restructuring Gundy’s buyout and overall contract. I know this won’t be popular, would love to see Utah propose the same at some point going into next season to pressure KW perform or retire. IMO, there is no internal pressure for KW to improve letting him call all the shots while the football program continues to decline. I appreciate what he’s done for the program, but we’re going on year three of a coach with the a recent two year record of 13-12 overall and 7-11 (13th place) conference justifying it all with the same bag of excuses and unfixed problems that seem to be getting worse. To be clear, I want whats best for the team performing to their potential, never been a fan of individual coaches or players. Go Utes!

I think Oklahoma State is comfortable doing that with Gundy because they’ve got a “cause for fire” option up their sleeve. Utah doesn’t have that option.
-
TrailgoatParticipant
Yeah, was being mostly a smart ass. Agree, that would never fly with KW’s situation. Gundy will tell OSU to pound sand and force OSU to fire him for his payout. The move seems as much as a PR, shaming move from OSU to Gundy. Either way, the move is interesting.

Update…Gundy agreed to restructure his contract. From what I read, the Cowboys are going to use the funds they recouped from the contract towards revenue sharing with the players. It will be interesting to see if the salaries of most head coaches and, coaches in general, go down once revenue sharing is fully implemented.

With ASU and Scattebo going against a bad run defense (I think ISU is 14th in conference against the run) this game is going about how I would expect it.

In retrospect, our defense was pretty dang good this season. Probably not as good as last season, but still up to par to the defenses. Offense was just terrible.

Leavitt has completed a few really tough throws. Amazing what happens when a QB isn’t taught to hold on to the ball until he sees separation but instead gives his receiver a chance to make a play. And the receiver actually wants to make a play. Hope Landon King is watching

ASU is clearly the best team in the conference. Amazing when you think about it. Picked #16 in preseason polls. Scatteboo is a work horse.
I dont like Dillingham because he is an immature cry baby, but give him credit. Dammit, why couldn’t you guys hold on to defeat ISU a couple of weeks ago so my Zoobs had another crack at ASU.
I think we’d have lost again though. ASU is playing their best ball of the season, beating 3 contenders in last 4 weeks (ksu, byu, isu).
Retzlaff cost us the Kansas game with that terrible int to end the first half when we had 2 minutes and first and goal from the 5.

The funny thing is that with any QB not named Rising, Utah probably beats ASU in Tempe. The other thing is that ASU is going to be blown out by whatever team they draw in the CFP.
-
2008 National ChampParticipant
Dillingham has something good going in Tempe. Any team with nothing to lose can do well in the playoff and he’s playing with house money at this point. It’ll be interesting to see if that win was big enough to get them a bye because then all bets are off.

Just me, but I doubt a two loss ASU jumps over Boise. I predict that they’ll be the #11 or #12 team and have to go on the road in the CFP. My brother tells me that State College is lovely in mid December. Gonna love seeing how Sparky does if they draw a cold weather team.
-
2008 National ChampParticipant
Would you have Penn State as anything worse than a 3 point dog at home against any of the other teams expected to be in the playoff? All those good weather teams from the SEC/ACC? Heck, if Penn State wins today Oregon would be #5 and ASU shouldn’t be scared of playing in Eugene.
I’m just saying that ASU’s confidence has to be sky high right now. They’ve been doubted all year so people telling them they don’t belong in the playoff will help more than hurt. And they can probably convince themselves they deserve a bye over Boise whether they get it or not (definitely will if Clemson wins today). In a one game, winner take all scenario, motivation can make all the difference early and if you get a couple of things go right (Utah v Alabama?) the route can be on. I wouldn’t be my house on ASU but you should be able to get good enough odds to make taking a flyer on them worth the risk.
