I have been outspoken about Whitt’s need to leave so we could rebuild this team after the dumpster fire we have experienced over the last 16 months. I think Scalley was in a better place to rebuild the program.

However, Whitt has decided to stay. This will be my last post on this subject until at least next season. Now, I hope Whitt and his staff can rebuild this program. Yes, we need to rebuild. As of this morning, we do not have even one QB in the QB room and we have very little in the RB room. Our 2023 and 2024 offenses were a complete disaster. I hope Whitt can get it done and have a very successful season to end his career. He is our coach and I support him.

      Go Utes!!!

I’ll say this, Whitt seems REALLY motivated and p**sed off about last year. I think can be a great thing if it’s channeled correctly and not at his assistants. I think Scalley and Beck being such good friends is another positive in this staff staying cohesive. I’m optimistic. Let’s get to work. Go Utes!

        2 things for me:

1- where are you getting or seeing that Whitt is p**sed off and fired up? I haven’t seen anything out of the ordinary. To contrast, I’d say this last season he was subdued to a fault, and haven’t seen anything to contrast that.

2- Scalley and Beck being friends is interesting. Having a First and Second Mate in cahoots, makes mutiny much easier. This could get interesting if we start seeing the same warts next season.

Bitching about the call in the TSPP game was the most animated he seemed all season.

I’m with you Anfernee. Whitt would have retired if he didn’t want to right the ship. I would definitely say he is p**sed off and fired up. Time will tell.

I am going to try and stay positive on the subject. Looking at other schools in the current “NIL” world you absolutely can rebuild a team in one year. Now can Whitt and Co do it? That is the question.

I’m with you Proud Ute. If Whitt is staying I will support him 100%. Hiring a QB friendly OC and Detmer to help out the QB room is a step in the right direction. I wish Rose would have stayed but I don’t blame him for leaving.

Hopefully we can get the New Mexico QB to lead the way for the young incoming QBs. Wilson was a bust for many reasons but time to move on and see what Beck can do with the offense. Go Utes!!!

I know I’m the outlier here, but I don’t want him to bring in Dampier.

I want to see Beck develop a modern and develop a balanced offense that is attractive to modern athletes.

Once Whitt sees and tastes a QB that gets 1000+ yards and 19 TDs, he will force Beck to become old Air Force or Georgia Tech.

Give me 2004 Trojans offense, not 1996 Falcons.

Tough call on bringing in Dampier. His numbers may not transfer to the P4 level. I think Beck will adapt the offense to the talent of the QB. I would bring him in as an insurance policy but be open to a different style QB. I like the throw first run second type also. A young Josh Allen would be perfect. ( in my dreams anyway)

I think the defense will be fine. Offensively you have to get to 30 Ppg. It is like 2012 all over again.
