“Cam Rising not expected to return to Utah
It appears that Cam Rising’s run at Utah is over.”
“The current expectation is that the star QB won’t be back with the Utes next season, sources tell CBS Sports/247Sports.”
Now, for me, I’m not taking a position one way or the other whether Cam should stay or leave. … but… I do strongly say… Something just doesn’t smell right here if this story is true. “Appears”, “current expectation is”, “sources”.?!?
After Cam’s unsurpassed run on the field and in the hearts of the fans, I can’t imagine he would simply take off and have a 3rd party issue a half baked statement announcing his departure. If Rising really is calling it quits at Utah I would expect either an official announcement on his part or the University publicly recognize his tremendous contribution to the team and program. “No question about it”!
The other side of the coin though, is that with the portal opening up, there is no way any quality future QB recruit would consider the U if Cam was known to be coming back,… it obviously would torpedo any serious recruitment.
We need QB depth and the only way to fill the room is with the perception that Cam has moved on.
Guess we’ll find out in the Spring if he shows up in helmet and pads!
