With this news, how many posters do you think just backed away from the ledge?
-
cj13Participant
I wouldn’t say I was on the ledge, but the odds of this commit happening was so high that if one were on the ledge they should not take any steps back. If we somehow missed Dampier then it would mean it’s time to jump lol

Wonder what his deal is.
I also hope we land Eli Sanders.
-
Ute DubParticipant
He’d be good, but he’s not the prize.

The Miami UteParticipant
Talk to me once football season starts. In the new environment, Dampier could have a great spring camp, be offered by another school, and be gone before he ever even played one game for Utah.
-
TednabParticipant
Great .. just need 6 more

The Miami UteParticipant
One of the problems with the current system is that there aren’t any real contractual obligations. Dampier could sign with Utah, start pocketing NIL payments, and then jet on April 25 having done absolutely nothing for the Utes. Damien Martinez waited until he received his last $100K NIL check from Oregon State and then immediately transferred for a much bigger paycheck at the University of Miami. You think that he didn’t know that he was going to transfer until the very end or did he wait just so that he could get paid?
-
stboneParticipant
There is no reason why the collective couldn’t have a contract. It would require organization to do. But there is no reason why we couldn’t be including such language in the contracts right now.
-
Rick WalkerParticipant
NIL Contracts like that are illegal right now in Utah but it’s supposed to change starting in 2025 I believe
-
stboneParticipant
Do you know which law that is? I hadn’t heard of it.
-
Rick WalkerParticipant
I don’t know formally what law it is. I think it’s called the Utah name image and likeness act (or along those lines). Basically it says it’s illegal to do pay for play in Utah so until that’s changed donors can’t make these contracts conditional on the athletes performance. This is supposed to, and needs to change soon.

2 inches shorter than Wilson.

chinngiskhaanParticipant
2 inches shorter than Wilson’s listed height
-
beasladParticipant
Wait. Really? How is that even possible? Is our next offer to Danny Devito?
-
Tony (admin)Keymaster
Joe Pesci actually. Much tougher. 😂😂😂😂

Just watched several game highlights. He is incredibly elusive and will be very hard to sack. Even Auburn couldn’t bring him down with their SEC speed. He has amazing ability to extend plays and will probably require a rover from the opposing team to always have to spy him. He also has pretty good touch on the ball. He is electric and should be fun to watch no matter what our record is next year.
