“Trevor Reilly, who resigned from his position under Colorado head coach Deion Sanders on Aug. 1, explained to Jill Painter Lopez and A.J. Perez of Front Office Sports that he took a trip to Jordan, Dubai and Saudi Arabia seeking NIL money for Colorado players.”

That’s some out of the box thinking. I’d love to have Trevor Reilly thinking along those lines for our NIL. Billionaires, he appears to go looking for them.

I love where your head is at! We absolutely need a financier!

Aside from that, the first thing that crossed my mind when I read the title was that I hope Weddle returns as a coach at some point. He’s getting experience at the high school level and I read somewhere that we’ve already offered his son for like 2027 or 2028? Maybe Weddle will com along with him, or will be added when Scally is elevated to HC?

Yes, Gaige has been offered a scholarship, though he won’t be here for quite some time. He just finished up his freshman season, I believe. He is a QB. He took over the starting job midway through the season and led the team to a deep playoff run. He had around 1500 yards of total offense, and around 20 TDs. He also had over 70 tackles on defense. Kid is going to be a great player. Also, he’s listed at 6 ft 2, 175 lbs, which is great for a Freshman QB. He MUST be a Ute.

Weddle should come coach now at Utah and his son can play for the QB whisperer, coach Kjar at Corner Canyon.

I’m curious why people are down voting

Agreed, why the downvotes? Because he worked for Sanders at Colorado? That’s the only reason I can think of, and it’s a pretty poor reason to not want him.

Probably because people (including myself) prefer our players aren’t funded by Saudi billionaires.

Some of the stuff he did seemed a little shady and under the table. Def out of the box thinker, but it’s like ‘who do we really want to get into bed with’. I’d say sportswashing (hiding human rights issues with sports funding) and private equity and venture capital will make the NIL environment even worse than it is.

Plus, I think there is a nostalgic draw to bring back former players to staff (mostly coaches) and it’s hit or miss if their player/star power converts to being a good coach.
